Math Tutoring

I tutor advanced high school and undergraduate math, one-on-one. The goal is pretty simple: help you actually understand what’s going on, get unstuck, and build the confidence to work through problems on your own.

A bit about me

I finished the full math B.S. at UW plus a few graduate sequences (abstract algebra, combinatorics, linear algebra), and I’ve been tutoring and teaching for about five years now — high school, community college, the tutoring center at UW, and as a TA for MATH 209. Mostly that means I’ve seen the spots where people tend to get stuck. I care a lot more about helping you see why something works than getting you to the next line of algebra.

What I tutor

High school / early college

AP Calculus AB/BC, honors calculus, precalculus, intro differential equations, and intro linear algebra.

Core undergraduate

UW MATH 124–126, 207, 208, 209, 300, 340, and similar calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, and proof courses.

Advanced / proof-based

Honors advanced calculus, abstract algebra, topology, differential geometry, graph theory, and related topics — just ask.

How we meet

Online or in person near UW, whichever is easier for you. Sessions are flexible — bring homework, prep for an exam, work through proofs, or just sit down and untangle something that isn’t clicking.

Rates

I keep rates between $30 and $50 an hour, depending on the level of the course and how much prep it takes.

If money’s tight, reach out anyway and we’ll figure something out. And if you need to cancel, a heads-up at least 12 hours ahead is great when you can manage it — but life happens, emergencies are no problem.

How it works

  1. Send me a message with the course, what you’re hoping to get out of it, any deadlines, and when you’re free.
  2. We hop on a short, free call to make sure I’m a good fit.
  3. We figure out a plan around your homework, exams, or whatever’s giving you trouble.
  4. From there, we get to work.

Email me directly or send a quick note below — whatever’s easier.

Thanks — your note came through. I’ll get back to you soon.
