Graph Genera and Minors

My undergraduate honors thesis, advised by François Clément, covers embedding graphs on surfaces. It builds up rotation systems, which turn the genus of a graph into a purely combinatorial quantity, and surveys how the Robertson–Seymour graph minor theorem classifies the graphs embeddable on each surface by a finite list of forbidden minors.
